As many of you know this was our fourth trip to Desire Resort in Los Cabos, Mexico. The biggest news is that they will be changing the name and format of the resort in February 2009. It will change into “Temptations” and it will be open to couples and singles where it was couples only as Desire. It will also change from clothing optional at the pool and Jacuzzi to topless optional at the pool and Jacuzzi. We have mixed feelings about the changes but will likely give it a try after the change as it’s so easy for us to get there on the west coast. There’s a new 8 story resort going up next door at that may be part of the reason for the changes.
From a transportation standpoint this was a really great trip. Very short lines at check in, immigration and customs and we got the green light leaving the airport. The trip home was more of the same. From the time we got to the airport until we were at the gate was less than 30 minutes. We flew Alaska as they have direct flights into SJD. We always take a taxi to the resort. That runs bout $50.00 USD with the tax. The trip back to the airport is only about $25.00 USD. Once we’re at the resort we don’t leave unless we’re going fishing which we didn’t do on this trip.
We got there on Friday 02 January and the resort was completely full. When we’d been there in the past it was never more than 50% full. There were a lot of swingers so the Jacuzzi area got quite “frisky” in the afternoons and evening. We had no problem with dining accommodations and the service, which has always been very good, was also not affected. On Saturday15-20 couples left. On Sunday we woke to find the sky overcast and the temperature fairly cool at around 70°F. About 30 more couples left on Sunday. This brought the number of guests down to where it was when we were there in the past. It also quieted things down quite a bit in the evenings at the pool area and Disco.
Monday we woke to more overcast and…..RAIN! It rained off and on all day. Just enough that they had to take all the cushions from the lounges in. The locals said the rain was somewhat unusual and that was the first time we’ve ever been rained on in Mexico. The rest of the week was nice with temperatures in the low 80’s.
Some people complained about the construction next door but it never really bothered us. At lunch time and break time the construction workers would congregate on the higher floors to watch all the nekkid people at the resort.
There were two gay couples when we were there which was also a first for us at this resort. We saw the male couple walking around hanging on each other a couple of times but never saw them at dinner or the pool. The female couple we saw several times. In many lesbian couples one, or both, of the partners tend to be kind of masculine. These girls were an exception in that both were exceptionally beautiful and they both had stunning figures.
As in the past the staff was excellent and the service was also first rate. The first 3 days all the restaurants were open for dinner. After the place thinned out they closed the restaurant by the pool for dinner so the selection of food was somewhat less than when all 3 were open.
The first couple of days the pool was very warm. After the rain showers and far fewer people in the pool is cooled off quite a bit. By Friday it had warmed back up but Tuesday and Wednesday most people didn’t stay in it for very long. The 3 times we were in the Jacuzzi it was nice and warm.
We go to this resort for several reasons aside from the obvious one of just getting away from home. One is to watch all the people around the pool. In this case most everybody is nude so it’s both a voyeur and an exhibitionist type of thing. The resort is clothing optional at the pool and Jacuzzi but you do have to cover up for lunch and dinner at the restaurants. We enjoy going to dinner with Mary dressed in very revealing clothing. It’s amazing that the majority of women wear very conservative clothing to dinner at a CO resort. I don’t recall any instance when there was another woman wearing something more revealing than what Mary was wearing. After dinner Mary would change into an even more revealing outfit. Usually with totally exposed breasts, at the least. She got a lot of comments from the ladies, on both dinner and after dinner outfits, all positive and a lot of envious looks from the husbands who seemed to wish that their wives were dressed like Mary!! We would visit the bar and then go up to the Jacuzzi area. Later we would go back to the bar or to the Disco.
All in all we had a great trip and we’re looking forward to going back with somewhat mixed feelings. We just hope the changes don’t mess up the things we really like about the resort.
